hi all:
waterfowl appearing more and more at borst lake (near sno falls, the foreground on lots of mt. si pics).
both widgeons, northern pintail hen, mallards, wood duck (1 male, 3 females), along with steller's jay, male belted kingfisher and a possible red shouldered hawk. the hawk was out there aways, broad bands on long tail, auburn cap on head, vertical broken stripes on chest (which is to say it could have been a coopers, but i couldn't see a 'crest' on the head, beak looked too big, and overall bird was not as slender as one might expect for an accipiter).
fall colors are just beginning to show, so landscape photographers might want to plan to come out in another week or so and the month after that.
regards,
dave t
