Hiya tweets,

Went to finish building a brick wall for a friend in Hansville (saw and heard a nice flock of Red Crossbills at her place) and stopped at Point No Point in the late afternoon. It had been a high tide, so I was hopeful of some late shorebirds, but nothing. I walked a long way down the beach though and did find some good birds.

I stopped at one point to pish for birds right by where the little raised platform is on the south beach side. There were lots of Black-Capped Chickadees and Song Sparrows, but there were also at least a dozen Orange-crowned Warblers, Golden-crowned Sparrows and a few Savannah Sparrows as well.

A little further down the beach, I spotted a large flock of Bonaparte's Gulls out in the water, and another group of 100+ on the beach about a half mile away. When I almost got to them, a Bald Eagle scared them and so I started walking back. A movement to the side caught my eye, and it turned out to be a Townsend's Solitaire! Sure didn't expect that one! Then, when I got back to the lighthouse, I saw a drab bird on the ground, and it turned into a Horned Lark, probable female. Had some definite facial markings, but a very drab bird, nothing striking.

Good birding!
