I am stunned and saddened to hear of Patrick's death. I had the good fortune
to run into Ruth and Patrick several times, and to go on one of the trips
they led during the Gray's Harbor Shorebird Festival last spring. As a
relative beginner, I learned so much from Patrick whenever we birded
together, because he was not only an excellent birder, but also an excellent
and patient teacher. I will miss him very, very much.

Ruth, please accept my deepest sympathy and condolences.
