I am very saddened by this news. First off, my prayers and thoughts are with you Ruth. You have truly lost a special son. I must tell of my first experience with Patrick and Ruth. I was out on the Brady Loop road birding and they drove up to me and introduced themselves to me. They were very nice to me and encouraged me to bird more. They gave me an issue of both the WOS newsletter and Washington Birder. This meeting opened the birding world to me and I was hooked. I always looked forward to crossing paths with both Patrick and Ruth for when I did I learned so much from them. Patrick, Ruth, and I have birded several times together. Most times they have led me to many life birds. They were especially kind in taking both my wife and I on an extensive eastern Washington trip this past spring. Sleeping in our cars near the Leahy lek in the middle of nowhere was a definite experience that I and my wife will not forget. The birding world has lost a very valued person
with this and I feel like I have lost a close friend. Words cannot express everything...
