Dear tweeters, I subscribed to Tweeters a few years ago when I had a
chance to visit the Seattle area. I was privileged to be immersed in the
messages from a wonderful community of birders at that time. I recall
reading many messages from the Sullivans, some of which were written by
Ruth, I recall from my spotty memory, and her accounts were unique in
sentence structure but so illuminating. It was so charming to read these
excited communications from people who were inspired by birds and who
loved to share their information so selflessly.

I recently re-subscribed to Tweeters to try to obtain some copies of some
of my exchanges with this incredible group of people. And then
.

Today I sadly saw the messages about Patrick. I never met him, although I
did exchange a few messages with him and his mother, as they provided
information of interest to me. Nonetheless, as I read all of the tributes
from people who obviously respected and even loved him today, tears came
copiously. The idea that someone who was loved so much by so many people
left this world by his own hand is truly tragic. I was just stunned to
keep reading these emailed offerings of such strong respect and remorse
from so many people, so poetic, so real, it just overwhelmed me. I cannot
remember the last time tears flowed down my cheeks. What an amazing
outpouring of remembrance and praise. And how amazing that I came to
share your grief from such a distance.

It appears that people will make certain that his zeal is remembered.
