Hello All,

Some six years ago MerryLynn and I were slowly driving along a snow
blanketed dirt road north of Adkins lake in Douglas Co.. We had not seen any
vehicles all morning way out on the Waterville Plateau. It was clear and
very cold as we slowly moved through this winter landscape, when far ahead
of us approached a small SUV. I said aloud "who on earth is out here on this
winter road in the middle of nowhere? The auto drew closer and to our
surprise it was Ruth and Patrick. We stopped and had a great visit
surrounded by the winter vastness of the Waterville. We visited and after
25-30 min. we parted our ways to search for those rare winter birds. As I
watched the Sullivans auto grow smaller in my rear view mirror I thought
that we had just found the rarest of winter joys and that was friends along
a winter road.
