Thanks so much for the many thoughtful and detailed responses to my
posts. I am learning a lot from you!

A twin enthusiasm to my nature-watching is photography. At the urging of
another local birder/photographer, I have just started a Flickr site
that so far has 71 of my wildlife photographs, mostly of birds, but also
of mammals.

The site is entitled Eye on Port Townsend, and the one guiding rule is
that all of the photographs are taken within the city limits. It adds to
the challenge, but I have been discovering it is not all that much of a
limitation in practice, since the diversity here is staggering. I have
observed more species of birds and mammals in my first 9 months than in
12 years in Florida, my previous home (Sanibel Island, a birder's
paradise!).

I invite you to have a peek:

(PS: Please let me know if you spot any possible errors of
identification or of fact)
