I must add my condolences and thoughts to the multitude already out there
about the passing of Patrick Sullivan. I've run into Patrick barely a
handful of times in the field, yet am so deeply struck and saddened by his
passing - the fact that so many others feel the same way is testament to his
impact and contribution to birds, birding, and birders in the Pacific
Northwest. I've been away from the Tweeters community for several years,
and it is quite a shock to return to such tragedy, especially when I
remember well (and fondly) the detailed and passionate posts of Patrick and
Ruth from the time I joined Tweeters, just shy of a decade ago, to when I
left for school, about four years ago. Now that I'm back, I will greatly
miss his posts and the possibility of running into him in the field. There
is not much I can add that hasn't already been said, but I would like say
how encouraging and inspiring it is to have so many people, including those
who knew Patrick through only Tweeters, rally and offer services, trails,
scholarships, and more in memorial. Truly amazing, as was Patrick.
