I tried for the Bell's Vireo at Skagit WMA HQ early this morning, arriving
at 8:00 and walking the full loop-- no luck. I had a greenish CASSIN'S VIREO
at the same spot where Steve had a Bell's yesterday. To those looking, do be
careful of this bird, as the spectacles aren't that bright and most field
marks, indeed, match for Bell's Vireo. It's the jizz more than anything that
stands out when you have a real Bell's. Other migrants there were a female
Wilson's Warbler that did not look like the ones that breed in w WA, lots of
Myrtles and a few Audubon's, a Yellow, and about 70 Purple Finches.

I birded a number of other areas, but turned up little to report. I did have
3 SANDHILL CRANES which flew over Benson Road in the Samish Flats as I was
watching a berry tree loaded with robins and a couple Pileated Woodpeckers.

Cheers,
