Hi everyone,
The long awaited nice weather has finally arrived, and I made the most
of it by birding the whole day at both Vancouver Lake and Ridgefield
NWR. The most noteworthy birds were a NORTHERN SHRIKE I located near
the lake at the end of La Framboise Rd. (lake a left on 4th plain onto
Fruit Valley Rd., turn left at 2nd stoplight on La Framboise, continue
past the houses into the gated area), and which I observed doing it's
midair acrobatics while feeding on insects, as well as several BALD
EAGLES seen gliding over the marshes and soaring above Vancouver Lake,
and Rest Lake at the Ridgefield refuge. It was a fantastic day to be
outdoors, especially with my new Leica Ultravid 8x42's in hand. :-)
