Thank you very much to everyone who responded about my sighting of what
I thought was a huge goose. I looked at pictures of all the suggestions
and have concluded that it was most likely a juvenile Trumpeter Swan;
the coloring was exactly the same. I drove by there yesterday and saw
no birds, so perhaps it has flown on to its summer house. Thanks again!
