This morning, at about 8:20, I found a Red-naped Sapsucker at Green River Community College. I was very surprised! This was a male with the zig zaggy stripe on the sides of the head and red chin. I was blown away. I found it on the part of the forest trail that wanders along the slope and overlooks Highway 18. Nearby were two Mourning Doves. White-crowned Sparrows are back and it is a real pleasure to hear there songs.

A very nice way to start the day!

While I am speaking about this forest, my last encounter with the Northern Pygmy-owl was this week on monday, March 31st. So the Owl has been at GRCC since late January.
