Just back from a swing through the counties above. Saw the Snowy Owl on the
lake, more cranes (oh how they are doing the dance), Prairie Falcon,
Long-billed Curlew, Burrowing Owl, Rough-legged Hawksss, Sage Grouse,
Canvasback, Redhead, BARROW'S Goldeneye, Pied-billed Grebe, Sage Sparrow,
and lots of others with no pictures.
Along one stretch from Hartline to Grand Coulee I counted 10 Rough-legged
Hawks, 2 Red-tailed Hawks, one Prairie Falcon, one Northern Harrier and 2
Raven.
Ran into Marv Breece at the lek and had one of the best days there, ever. No
wind, almost not even a breeze, and the sun came up!! And we saw a female,
something that neither of us had had much success at there before. The
grouse were on both sides of the road, about the same distance out each way.
The ones to the south were in the open field, which seems unusual.
Spent an hour with a couple Sage Sparrow and at least one TICK at the
Quilomene entrance on the old Vantage hwy.
Still a little cool but spring is starting to show. Pictures are here:
