A brisk early afternoon...but today saw ring-necked ducks 3-4 pair, (two at the large pond, the other over by the parking lot by the courts (is there a correct id for this place?), then saw what I believe were ruddy ducks, but did not see very blue bills, but black, white, and cinnamon body. Not sure if I saw a pintail - do they ever have shorter tails? I believe I was seeing the Eurasian wigeons with the shovelers, geese, occasional bufflehead. Another yellow-rumped warbler by the pond.
A very nice viewing of the resident pheasant...heard him squawk several times and then watched him in the brush just left of the signage on the main path. Just gorgeous plumage!!
A small hawk, need to study my books - dark back, very rusty chest. Very small head.
My husband just came in to tell me a nuthatch is pecking at the snag in our yard, hopefully trying to build a nest...
Time for a hot toddy!
Take care. Caryn/Wedgwood
