Hi Tweeters,
I had the afternoon free on Tuesday so I went to Discovery Park hoping to see the bluebirds. I was not disappointed.
The ladies at the visitors center told me right where to look and sure enough. On the North Beach by the lighthouse I first spotted the Say's Phoebe and while I was photographing it I saw Bluebirds fly by. I got some excellent looks at both of them.
They are both Life birds for me and if I can identify the shorebirds that were on the beach I might add 3 lifers in one day.
I saw my first of spring migratory warbler. Warblers confuse me and I have not trained myself on what to look for in order to sort them out. Maybe it was an Orange-crowned but I wouldn't rule out the many females that all look alike to me.
Also my first Savannah Sparrow (I think I only got a quick look) of the spring.
I watched as a Rufous Hummingbird tried to drive a WC Sparrow off the top of a bush.
I stumbled upon a pair of Cooper's Hawks at their nest sight just in time to see them copulate. I think an Anna's has her nest nearby because she was giving the hawks an awful tongue lashing.

There were people banding birds and the man showed me the female Song Sparrow he had just caught in his net. it was amazing to see a live bird that close.

For the day I had 30+ species, there were gulls, ducks, alcids and shorebirds that I couldn't identify.
