Tweeters,

I breathed a huge sigh of relief last night when our Conference trip
leader list was posted on the website at 8:30 p.m. We are literally
losing sleep trying to get you trip leaders as fast as we can.

You?ve probably noticed by now that we really do need your help. There?s
no staff at WOS for us to fire when things don?t go as we hoped. We?re
just a group of working people like you who spend whatever time we can
to support an organization that has given us an opportunity to bird and
deeply experience the diverse and fascinating habitats of this amazing
state. The Blue Mountains at Walla Walla are a case in point, a unique
offshoot of the Rockies up against the Central Basin and nestled against
the Snake River at its confluence with the Columbia. However, there?s no
nice hotel with its own catering and big conference rooms to accommodate
us there, and no one of us was able to take this conference on as a full
time project. But this is what you told us you wanted at last year?s
conference and we?re doing our best for you. We?ve fallen behind our
planning deadlines trying to deal with a million unexpected details at
the college and we are scrambling to put on what truly will be an
exciting annual conference for you, our membership. Because you?re all
we?ve got. Without you, there?s no WOS. And we on the board are part of you.

When was the last time you volunteered for WOS? There?s a long list of
positions that desperately need to be filled on our website and in our
newsletter, and Board positions come up occasionally as people cycle
off. Each person has a variety of skills and talents that can fill a
need. Please be part of the solution.
