I know this list serve is about Washington sitings,
but we do travel now and then, so I include this for
those who may be interested.

My wife and I discovered the Salinas River NWR last
week on our trip to California. We were directed there
by a local nature photographer. The only other human
we encountered on our hike was a scientist/naturalist
that had been out at the beach. We didn't ask whether
she was there for the Snowy Plover or the legless
lizard because we didn't know anything about this
refuge until we got Internet access. It was a fun
hike, even though we were there mid-day.

We didn't get a lot of bird photos, but if you're
interested in reading about this interesting refuge
and seeing the photos we did get, click on the link

We were happy to photograph two lifers on this hike.
