Tweets - Ollie reports that the owl was still present at about 1:00 p.m. It
was last seen about 25 feet up an Aspen tree along the west edge of the
grass soccer fields.

It was initially flushed from the tall grass north of fields 7-8-9, then
flew to near the restoom at the east side of the park (Marybelle Meadow),
then it flew west to the west edge of field #13 (see the map at
http://www.marymoor.org/images/FacilitiesMap.jpg)

To my knowledge, the only previous sighting of Burrowing Owl in King County
dates way back to 2/19/1978, a bird reported at Magnuson Park by P. Moore
and E. Spragg. Gene Hunn's book states that the bird stayed around until
2/26/1978.

So this would be the first BUOW in (just) over 30 years.

I'll post the rest of my Marymoor report shortly.

10:30 am

G'day Tweets:

Brian Bell just phoned in a report of a burrowing owl at Marymoor Park, in
the grass and blackberry brambles, north of the playing fields.

Cheers
