I stopped by Marymoor and found the Burrowing Owl at around 2:00 this
afternoon. The bird is not easy to find. It took me about 30 minutes and I
felt lucky finding it that quickly. It would be easy to miss. It was odd to
see one in that location - up in a tree at Marymoor Park. I imagined the
bird looking over at the Cascades and trying to figure out how to cross
them. When I left at about 3:00 the bird appeared to be sleeping.

After dropping my wife off at the airport I made a quick stop at the flooded
fields on South 204th Street in Kent between Orillia Rd. and Frager Rd. It
was pretty quiet. There were 8-10 distant Greater Yellowlegs on the south
wide of 204th along with a few Green-winged Teal and a Shoveler. There were
another 6-8 Greater Yellowlegs and at least one Lesser Yellowlegs on the
north side of the road.

On my way home I decided to make another quick stop at Marymoor since I had
my scope with me. When I arrived there were literally hundreds of kids and
parents playing soccer so I didn't expect to see the owl again. However, he
was in the same spot - sitting about 20' up in a conifer close to the trunk
to the west of Field 12...closer to the parking lot to the north than the
small lot where the Marymoor bird walk starts. I got some great scope
views. It almost looked like the bird was standing on the branch with his
legs crossed...
