On April 11, I was participating on a tour of lands in Klickitat
County that have been conserved by the Columbia Land Trust as we passed
by the east side of the Conboy NWR I spotted a GREAT GRAY OWL perched on
a fence pole near an old homestead. The location was along the BZ
Corner-Glenwood rd. about one mile north of Kreps Rd. This area is still
locked in early spring with snowdrifts along the roadsides and only the
slightest budding of the trees.
There were about six TURKEY VULTURES in the fields just south of
Glenwood feeding on the afterbirth of the herds of calving cattle.
