Greetings All

Today, around 8am or so, my wife and I had a Northern Waterthrush at the
Skagit Game Range (Wiley Rd).

Park at the lot near the river/boat launch. As you walk out towards the bay,
you will pass (in 3/4 mile?) a bridge over the slough on your right (leading
to a flooded field). About 100 yards past that bridge is where we had the
waterthrush. Another 100-200 yards down is a second bridge leading over slough to
right.

The bird flew out of low cover on left side (as one is walking away from
parking lot) and into alders or right. It actually worked its way fairly high into
the trees, bobbing as it went. After 3-4 minutes, it flew back down into the
low cover on left, giving but one chink.

Since there have been no waterthrush sightings this winter at the game range,
nor in fall after September, I think this bird may well be a spring migrant.

We also had a singing White-throated Sparrow and a Harlan's Hawk at the Game
Range.
