Subject: [Tweeters] Loggerhead Shrike at Fill

Hey tweets, just in case my husband hasn't had a chance to post this
yet, here's news that a Loggerhead Shrike is at the Fill today!! It was
originally found by Edmonds birder, Debbie Cisco, a woman who is
clearly shot with luck. The bird was perched out in plain sight on the
lone, big deciduous tree that stands between the main pond and Union
Bay (the tree is east of the main pond and stands at the westernmost
edge of the temporary pond that abuts the loop trail at the first
lookout spot). It's the same tree that the Western Meadowlarks have
been perching in occasionally.

I recommend that, if possible, you track down Debbie and try to rub her
hands - maybe some of her luck will rub off. I did that in hopes that I
would see some other great birds, and it worked. I also saw:
American Pipit
Virginia Rail
Pied-billed Grebe's egg!!

I've been hearing yellowlegs but haven't located them yet. Two other
birder friends of mine, Priscilla and Ray, reported seeing a Chipping
Sparrow. I'm going back for Round Two this evening. Who knows what will
fly in. If you do run into Debbie, please ask her to wish for a
Steller's Sea Eagle, or a Smew. - Connie, Seattle
