Howdy tweets,

Was out and about today and, as most folks that were out (all I would expect!), thoroughly enjoyed the weather and some of bird activity really starting to pick up.

Started out the day at Carkeek beach, watching, among others: brant, Am. wigeon, gadwall, surf scoters, Barrow's goldeneye (in the mood chasing the surrounding hens), common loon, rb merganser, B. eagle, osprey, w. grebe and probably others that I didn't register due to chatting with folks rather than looking though the glass.

After mowing this evening, I was cleaning the mower and heard an olive-sided flycatcher call from just upslope of my house overlooking me from a doug fir...finally, spring is showing itself!

Yesterday, I was out in Medina and swung into the city park, enjoyed the herons and noticed the Eurasian wigeon that folks have been reporting, hanging out among the Am. wigeon, RN ducks, l. scaup, a. coot, and mallard. Noted a couple peregrine buzzing way overhead, high up, and stooping occasionally - harrasing a 2nd year eagle and equally being harrassed by crows when coming down lower in altitude - must be nice to be that acrobatic. Ended the day by listening to a purple finch sing his keester off at Lk. Sammamish SP at dusk. Good to have things really starting to kick-around and do their thing again - really helps shake the winter gray-blah off!
