What they did is quite similar to what Audubon/Tweeters is working on
for this spring, and there is much to be learned.

1. Where did they get their field workers?
A. The main core were veteran ODFW. We have an important handful.
B. They had good luck with local newspaper announcements. Except in
Monroe, we haven't attempted to tap this.
C. Local Audubon chapter participation. This should be our core, with
the sites broken down by Washington State Counties, but
this may be coming together too slowly.
D. Oregon Tweeters, actually OBOL (Oregon Birders on Line).

2. How many volunteers participated?

3. How successful was observer recruitment from OBOL?
I quote, "was disappointed at the low level of response." hiss boo

4. Why was there a low level of response from OBOL?
The project coordinator offers no possible explanations. OBOL and
Tweeters are but a collection of individuals with an interest in birds
and an email address. Every one of them is as busy as they want to be.

5. Can Tweeters do better?
I'll bet there are a whole lot more 2008 Tweeters than there were 2000
OBOLers and we are a very active and diverse group. We will see, and
if the Tweeters response is disappointing the project will struggle on.
