On Sunday afternoon a mature Cooper?s hawk put her own interpretation on
notorious bank robber Willie Sutton who robbed banks because, ?that?s where
the money is.? She decided to go where the birds were by settling directly
on top of our feeder. Needless to say the birds didn?t flock to the site.
But after about ten minutes of looking around, she suddenly dove into a
small brush pile adjacent to the feeder and apparently made off with a
chipmunk (can?t confirm the kill but she really got into the brushpile where
the chipmunks hang out, then went up suddenly and off downhill at high speed
but at an angle that prevented a good view of anything she may have been
carrying).
