One more note on migrants seen today. A Lincoln's Sparrow showed up at my feeder in town. The Eurasian Green-winged Teal was still at the McCain Ponds but I didn't see the Eurasian Wigeon. A Mountain Bluebird was in Marsh Unit 3 of Columbia NWR. And along Morgan Lake Road near the Columbia NWR shop there was a single Western Kingbird, I believe the earliest date that I have seen one here although there are some March records by Dennis Paulson and others over the last few years.

Add a very early Nashville Warbler in the yard, and the Red-naped Sapsucker did come into my back yard. So far more than 500 Sandhill Cranes have flown over town and are probably arriving from a migration stop east of here. Yesterday there were still 800 cranes roosting in Marsh Unit 1 of Columbia NWR, and probably many more than that at Corfu.

With 3 Pine Siskins, 2 Ruby-crowned Kinglets and a White-crowned Sparrow showing up in the yard this morning I headed over 2 blocks to Kiwanis Park, which has mostly pine and sycamore trees. Among first of the year birds today were Townsend's Solitaire, Orange-crowned Warbler (very bright yellow), RED-NAPED SAPSUCKER, and more than 30 Ruby-crowned Kinglets. 10+ wintering Golden-crowned Kinglets were still active, 3+ probably resident Red-breasted Nuthatches, a pair of CA Quail, and a calling Spotted Towhee were noted. Unfortunately the Red-winged Blackbirds have found the feeders also.

Get out there and enjoy great spring weather!
