Hermit Thrush is a more likely small, brown thrush in mid-April. Swainson's typically don't arrive until May. Most of the heard-only Swainson's in April turn out to be Purple Finches.

Has anyone seen Swainson's thrushes in our neck of the woods? Couldn't fit any other bird to what I saw today. The tail didn't match a song sparrow...it had a large eye, spots on neck/throat and quite a "round" looking" shape. It was smaller than a varied thrush or robin, but it's too early for immatures, right?
