I ran across a book review at the back of the Spring 2008 "Wilson Quarterly" of a book titled: OF A FEATHER: A Brief History of Birding. Author is Scott Weidensaul. 358 pp, $25. I don't intend to refer to bird books much, but this one looks interesting. It includes the topic of collecting for museums and private collectors of the last Ivory-billed Woodpeckers and Carolina Parakeets.The rarer they got, the more money that was offered.
