Hi Tweets,

This morning on my monthly ELWAS walk nine of us enjoyed a great day of
spring birding. After a few sprinkles at the start, the skies cleared and
we had a cold, but productive morning. Hundreds of swallows (mostly VG,
Tree with a few Barn) were swooping low over the water. Two COMMON LOONS
and three HORNED GREBES, all in beautiful breeding plumage were in the Bay.
A singing WHITE-THROATED SPARROW was especially delightful. In all, 61
species for the day.

New arrivals or passing through:
GREEN HERON
CASPIAN TERN - 2
HAMMOND'S FLYCATCHER - on 108th
HERMIT THRUSH - on the Fire Station Road
Common Yellowthroat
Savannah Sparrow
Brown-headed Cowbird - Ryan saw some earlier

Many birds were observed excavating holes and/or building nests:
Band-tailed Pigeon
Red-breasted Sapsucker - Fire Station Road
Downy Woodpecker
Hairy Woodpecker - Fire Station Road
Red-breasted Nuthatch
Black-capped Chickadee
Bushtit

No Purple Martins yet, and the only other warblers were Yellow-rumps, but it
seems that spring has finally arrived at JBP. My only disappointment was
not finding some mega-rarity to rival Michael's run at Marymoor.
