Today, along with the large number of Brants that have been regulars on our beach in Des Moines, we had another 60 + Bonaparte's Gulls.

As I was walking the dog, I noticed in the marsh area a couple of gray-blueish looking birds flitting along. At first, I wasn't sure what they were as they were pretty far away but thanks to my binoculars, I was able to see one and realize that it was a new bird in our area for me. So, I ran back to the condo, exchanged the dog for the camera and plodded back down to the beach.

After a bit of looking and wandering around some more, I spotted the elusive little thing again. Tried following it as it flitted from log to log until I was able to get some pictures of it from a very long distance. It was one of two Female Mountain bluebirds that were cruising around from yard to yard and all through the marsh area.

Posted some pics of it for anyone interested in my Flickr stream:

Enjoy!
