Hi Tweeters,

Tried again for the Swamp Sparrow last night at the
fill without success.

A nice consolation was to hear then see two Vaux's
Swifts fly over. I walked around to stretch my legs
hoping the Virginia Rails would start to call like
they often do at dusk. None of them called but I did
get to see one foraging. I saw the two Dunlin at
Shoveler Pond and as it was really getting darker,
8:30ish three or four Snipe flew up and around and
were calling.

Other nice birds included an Orange-crowned Warbler, a
pair of Wood Ducks cruising around the sparrow area,
and a brood of Mallard ducklings in the same spot. A
white bird (gull? pigeon?) lost a bunch of feathers on
the ground near the swamp and a Bewick's Wren kept
busy adding them to his/her nest.
