Hi All
I visited the Edmonds marsh and waterfront today between 2:30 and 4 pm. The
marsh was fairly quiet, but it looks like at least 4 -5 of the heron nests
at the south end of the marsh are active. The usual Anna's Hummingbirds,
Song Sparrows, Bushtits and Red-winged Blackbirds were visible from the path
at the north end of the marsh, and a Savannah Sparrow made an appearance as
well. At the waterfront a Great Blue Heron was viewable from the fishing
pier as he stalked prey among the rocks of the breakwater. As I watched the
heron, a river otter swam by. He had a pretty nasty gash on his nose as if
he had been in a recent fight. A Belted Kingfisher also made an appearance
at the fishing pier. Along Olympic Beach I encountered a pair of Brants.
At Brackett's Landing a raft of female Barrow's Goldeneyes could be seen
offshore and Northwestern Crows were gathering nesting material along the
beach. I uploaded about 14 photos from today to my "New Photos" gallery.
