Hi Everyone,

I took a short hike on the Snoqualmie Valley Trail from the Highway 203 crossing toward Stillwater this morning. It was rather un-springlike for mid-April, but there were some good birds along the way. After this walk, I stopped at Chinook Bend at the pulloff overlooking the pond for a quick check. Some species seen included:

Snoqualmie Valley Trail
Greater Yellowlegs - 1 feeding in flooded field between the trail and highway
American Pipit - 1 heard flying over, then landed near enough for good looks
Lincoln's Sparrow - a flock of 7 or 8 feeding on the trail, near thickets
Belted Kingfisher - flyover
Bald Eagle
Red-tailed Hawk - hover hunting like a Kestrel
Common Yellowthroat - good looks at a singing male
Killdeer

Chinook Bend
Four species of swallows working over the pond:
Tree Swallow
Violet-green Swallow
Barn Swallow
Northern Rough-winged Swallow - my first seen this year
and, at least two Common Yellowthroats, singing away
