Hello Tweeters,

This probably won't be big new in 10 years or so but I just had a new
life bird and yard bird here about 2:30 pm Friday. A single Eurasian
Collared-Dove was perched at the top of a Cedar across the alley from
my house (15th Ave NW and 62nd Street). My first thought was Band-
tailed Pigeon based on the shape and size until I got it in my
binoculars. Then I noticed the tannish/gray color and evident
"Collar". I remembered last week's post from Marymoor comparing the
EUCD with a Ringed Turtle dove so I made sure to check for the
differences. This big was bigger than a Rock Pigeon and bulkier than a
Mourning Dove. I didn't get a great look at the tail tip but it had
grayish undertail coverts. It had red eyes and a white orbital ring. I
got it in the scope and attempted to get a photo which I did but until
I find my USB cable I haven't been able to check the quality. It
called a couple times, a very quiet "coo, coo". It was here for about
15 minutes after I first saw it then was gone after I went inside to
put the camera away and get out of a hail storm. I keep checking the
tops of all the remaining conifers here it Ballard and haven't seen it
again. So keep an eye out, and I'll post if it re-appears.

Cheers,
