Hi everyone,

Ok so it was only almost at the fill, today I birded the fill and foster
island in overcast conditions sometimes with hail. the wind kept a lot of
the passerines down but I did see a few cool birds. In the small wooded and
flooded area East of the greenhouses that are part of the center for urban
horticulture there was some kind of empidonax flycatcher, unfortunately he
wouldn't say anything so his identity remains a mystery.
same story across the street to the north. there is some sort of
conference center and the brushy perimeter of the property looked like a
good place to find birds. another silent empid gave me great views from very
close but the only note it uttered was not species specific and eventually I
walked away puzzled. Other birds at the fill were a American Pipit, a
singing Orange Crowned Warbler, and all five swallows. great to see that
spring has sprung, even if its doing it in between hail storms.
