About birding in one's backyard:
Friday, we were shocked, astonished, thrilled, knocked over, absolutely
overwhelmed: a male Mallard (of whom we have at least 2 nesting) was accompanied
by a male WOOD DUCK in all his glory! It's our first visit (and,alas,
probably our last!) .. I thought this bird might only show up here in a mild
winter . . . and yesterday it snowed!! Cheers-- Murray
