among the more interesting: cigars with wings (vaux's swifts) above my abode this evening, probably driven to tree-height by the lowering cloud deck (it's supposed to rain tonight). also, a single purple finch joining the house finch swarm at the sunflower / safflower feeders this past weekend...

oh, and someone was wondering about dark-eyed juncos in the last few days: i still have slates (one or two) and bright oregons (more than a few) visiting the ground beneath my feeder for the apparently-tasty safflower seeds that the nuthatches, chickadees and (mostly) house finches don't like...
