Yesterday I saw a bunch of coots in an uproar. They were hanging out near shore on Green Lake, but in a state of agitation. I watched to see the cause, and it was a pair of grebes harassing the coots, diving under water and apparently launching submarine attacks. While I watched, the grebes "herded" the flock of coots at least a couple of hundred yards. I have no idea what was going on.
