Hiya Tweeters,
I spilled hot coffee all over myself when I caught a glimpse of an
empid-like bird in my Ballard backyard this morning. It really stood out
from chickadees and bushtits that I usually wake to. It languished in the
tops of the big leaf maple allowing me several minutes of neck-craning
looks. After five minutes, it started calling a somewhat familiar and
unfamiliar "peek" and came lower to show its vest, buffy wingbars, eye ring,
tiny bill and long wings. It flicked it's tail quite a bit while perched.
It was gone within ten minutes. Just a quick rest I guess.
