Friday evening, I went in search of the Northern Harriers in the Redmond Willows, and managed to find at least two. One was almost always in view, another being a much lighter colour was camouflaged well too often... Also seen were Yellow-rumped Warblers and several Red-tail Hawks...

Saturday morning, two Vaux's Swifts, an Osprey, at least two Downy Woodpeckers, VG / Barn / Tree Swallows, and seven (greater?) Scaup were located on the south side of Seward Park.

In the mid-afternoon at Juanita Bay Park, Ernie Brown, Janice Johnson, and I managed to spot a Green Heron, Barn and Tree Swallows (the burbling sound of spring), a Northern Harrier (crossing west to east towards Forbes Creek), four Downy Woodpeckers, an army of Red-winged Blackbirds, a Muskrat, and a Common Raven (as it headed southwest from Juanita Beach to Rose Point).

Finally, another jaunt to the Redmond Willows with almost the same results as Friday night: in addition to the NOHAs and RTHAs of yesterday, a Common Yellowthroat, more than a few Marsh Wrens and a single Bewick's Wren singing madly, and almost one dozen Great Blue Herons on the 40-or-so acres north of 116th just east of Willows Road...

Is it my imagination or are there more Harriers in the area than normal?
