Hi All,

While leading a Seattle Audubon shrub-steppe class yesterday, we had a Long-tailed Duck on North (?) Teal Lake (that's what some fisher folk said anyways) on the "eastside" CVolumbia NWR refuge road. It was with two pairs of scaup.

Forgot to post last night. Some new arrivals yesterday on Columbia NWR: a WILSON'S PHALAROPE at Migraine Lake and a SOLITARY SANDPIPER and a night-heron at a wetland north of Quail Lake. Same area a Vesper and probable Grasshopper Sparrow. Also had a BONAPARTE'S GULL at the potato ponds with abundant stilts, avocets, Dunlin, pelicans, egrets and about 600 shovelers. A PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHER was in town. One Cassin's Finch and Lincoln's Sparrow left at my feeders which I have not yet seen this morning in addition to the gobs of White-crowned Sparrows, House Finches, American Goldfinches and Red-winged Blackbirds. But 2 Pine Siskins and an Orange-crowned Warbler have checked in so I better go check the park.
