Subject: [Tweeters] Osprey Nest in Vancouver

We have had a pair of osprey nest at a place just of I-5 south of exit 7
called Klineline Ponds for the last several years. Watching them work and
raise the kids has been a fun part of the morning and evening drive. The
nest is on top of a pole that was created for osprey in the pond and is
visible from the freeway on the east side.

Last year they got a bit of notoriety when the PUD (I think it was them)
tried to save one chick who got tangled up in the nest falling out. Pictures
in the Columbian and everything. The effort was a failure unfortunately.

This year the osprey are still here as we see them flying around the ponds,
but have to have found a new nesting spot. I don't think they gave it up
totally voluntarily because the nest has been taken over by a pair of Canada
Geese. I don't know how common this is either for the geese to be so
aggressive or to nest so high in the sky.
