Hey Tweets,
I saw some behaviour this weekend on Bottle Beach that
kinda irked me, so I thought this might be the
appropriate forum to vent.

Several hours before high tide, when the birds were
WAY out on the mud flats, there was a large numbers of
birders gathering. Most of us were hanging back up
near the high tide mark, waiting for the tide to drive
the birds towards us (admittedly in several hours).

However, a couple of small groups began walking down
towards the birds, approaching them closely.

One group in particular (I won't mention names here,
but you know who you are!) walked to the waterline,
then walked down the beach towards the birds. The
birds were driven down the beach, and away from all
the other birders. The beach was totally devoid of
birds behind them as they pushed down the beach. And
they caused the birds that much extra stress by
flushing them down the beach.

Could you not just as easily STAYED up the beach, far
enough from the waterline, to observe the birds
without flushing them? And allowing the rest of us to
observe the birds as well?

A little consideration and thought would have made my
experience a lot better on saturday, and not decreased
yours at all. And maybe not stressed the birds as
much as well.

Something for us all to think about ...
