Sunday there were 3 large wading Egrets just off the freeway east of I-5 near Kalama in a small lake or pond. ?They were too big to be Cattle Egrets for sure.

Also have seen more Pileated Woodpeckers this year everywhere than anytime in the past.

Living in the Chehalis River valley and driving around quite a bit I have noticed new eagles nest every year as well and the eagles are just everywhere!

I'd guess there are 5-7 active nest now in a ?+/- 20 mile stretch.

First American Goldfinch today for me as well.

Side note. ?A few weeks back our large honeybee colony that has used our hay barn for it's housing for about a decade re-appeared as normal when the weather warmed (barely). But now they are all gone. ?I assume they have fallen victim to the widespread health issues that have been killing them off. ?Very sad.
