Tweets,
Marvin and I spent the morning at Lake Sammamish SP today. Highlights of the day were: the Western Kingbird (gorgeous!) that flew within 5 feet of me at the swimming beach around 11:30am. I got a good look at it as it flew right at me and then slowly past me and into a large cottonwood tree on the other end of the swimming beach. We dashed over to try for another view but by the time we got there we couldn't spot it again. The loud mower next to us made it impossible to try to hear anything as well. On our way back across the beach two American Pipits were near a puddle next to 2 Western Sandpipers along with 1 Least Sandpiper; The side by side comparison was a treat as they let us get within 15 feet of them. On the lake there were Red-necked Grebes, a Horned Grebe, a couple of rafts of Western Grebes, and an Eared Grebe all in beautiful breeding plumage. A lone Lincoln's Sparrow was seen in the Salmonberry bushes along the creek as well as Red-breasted Sapsuckers. There were plenty of swallows today including Violet Green, Barn, Tree, and a couple of Rough-winged. Two Vaux's Swifts joined in the display above. 57 species for the day and no rain... Can't complain about that! The entire list for the day is below in no particular order. If your out there reading this, thanks for a fantastic morning Marvin! Let's do it again soon.
