Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday May 1. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On April 25 a HOODED ORIOLE was photographed in Brookings. A CARACARA was
photographed April 26 near Frenchglen. A PLUMBEOUS VIREO was reported April
28 at Mt. Tabor Park in Portland.

Migrations during the week brought BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAKS, WESTERN TANAGERS,
and LAZULI BUNTINGS into the state. CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRDS continue to be
reported from the Willamette Valley.

On April 24 an early BLACK SWIFT was reported in Portland. A WHITE-TAILED
KITE was seen April 24 in Washougal.

A POORWILL was near Sisters April 26. On April 29 a BLUE-GRAY GNATCHATCHER
was at Smith Rocks State Park. A GYRFALCON was seen April 25 in Bend. A
WARBLING VIREO was there April 29. A BLACK-NECKED STILT was at Pelton Dam
April 27. Three STILTS, two SOLITARY SANDPIPERS, two WILSON?S PHALAROPES,
six LEAST and five WESTERN SANDPIPERS were seen April 25 at Hatfield Lake
near Bend. A FRANKLIN?S GULL was there the next day. A FORSTER?S TERN was at
Ochoco Reservoir April 27.
