I have enjoyed the last 3 days out and about around the Spokane area finding some nice birds. Here is a quick summary of day number one.
Friday, August 1:
Reardon Ponds (Lincoln Co.)
Teal spp. (boy, I have a hard time with them out of breeding!)
Ruddy Duck
Hooded Merganser - just one
Eared Grebe (lots of juveniles)
American Coot (lots of juveniles)
Fancher Road, Gray Road - west of Medical Lake (Spokane Co.)
Say's Phoebe
Bank Swallow
Western Bluebird
Brewer's Sparrow (with young)
Chipping Sparrow
Vesper Sparrow
Silver Lake (Spokane Co.)
Virginia Rail (seen!)
Granite/Willow Lake (Spokane Co.)
Spotted Sandpiper
Turnbull NWR (Spokane Co.)
Solitary Sandpiper - 1 on Ice Pond
Black Tern (several young and protective adults)
