I made the run down to Tokeland this AM with my wife and daughter and hit Graveyard Spit at around 10:15 AM.? The Terns were loafing and feeding on the outer bar and I was able to spot three ELEGANT TERNS in the group of about 35 Caspians.? Clearly smaller birds than their Caspian cousins, lighter bills, white on the lower face and small tufts on the back of the head.? We ran into Brad Waggoner and his dad Ross a little later, and he was able to get us onto a HUDSONIAN GODWIT at the Tokeland Marina.? We then doubled back to Graveyard Spit to try to relocate the Elegant Terns, but no luck.? There were over 75 Caspians there by then.? Still, not a bad day!? Life Bird # 600!
