I guess I never thought about it, or noticed yawning. Do birds yawn? I
didn't find any reference to it in the Ehrlich _Birder's Handbook_ or the
Sibley _Bird Life & Behavior_.

I've often marvelled at the size of fish a heron can swallow. This morning,
paddling on the slough at Marymoor Park, I got a shot of a Green Heron
yawning that handily illustrates how it's done:
