I've noticed that the osprey nest at the north end of the Fry's
parking lot off of 405 in Renton has 3 regular ospreys at it, often at
the same time. I'm absolutely stumped as to what's going on. I read in
Sibley that male osprey will sometimes bond with more than one female,
but I can't imagine that two females would ever share a nest. I
frequently will see one osprey at the nest (in or on the rim) while
the other two perch nearby on the cell tower. And I haven't witnessed
any fighting behavior. This has been going on for weeks now.

Does anyone have some insight into what's going on here? Is one of the
birds a child of last year's clutch? Would a female osprey ever have
two males, and would they be able to avoid fighting?
